The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) has fallen under the political influence and control of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). In an effort to appease DCNR, the PGC has authorized the killing of over 2,000,000 antlerless deer since the PGC sponsored Gary Alt Deer Management Program began in 2000. The DCNR still claims our deer herd exceeds a million deer in PA, which translates into an incredible 40 deer per square mile across the state. Their goal, with the PGC’s cooperation is 0-5 deer per square mile on State Forest lands. Many hunters believe this goal has already been achieved. As a result there are little if any deer left on the public lands resulting in a loss of over 100,000 hunters and associated license sales revenues in the last six years; and a decline of about 200,000 licensed hunters since 1992. This has resulted in a tremendous economic decline for businesses across the northern tier, that have historically depended upon hunters for a major source of their income. The PGC and the Governor have turned a deaf ear to the hunters of PA, and have allowed continuous meddling by DCNR into deer management. The time has come for the sportsman of PA to urgently write to your Legislators and let your voices be heard!

Dear Legislator: The PGC Deer Management Plan has received a great deal of criticism, especially from the many hunters who hunt on public land. I want you to know how I feel about this important issue:
